From Milk To Meat: Maturing In Christ

It’s time my beloveds to grow up.  You have been drinking spiritual milk for far too long. Put the bottle down and pick up some meat! Many of you are still babes in your Christian walk with God. You know of God, but you don’t know Him personally.  You don’t read, study, or meditate on His Word. You only pray when you feel like it or when you are in trouble. And the only time you praise and worship Him is when you are in church. Now, if these last statements don’t apply to you, then the Spirit of the Lord is not talking to you. So, don’t get offended. Now for the ones they do apply to, don’t be offended either. I am not trying to offend or condemn anyone. I am simply speaking the truth in love because I want to see everyone grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).

When we first become Christians, we are babies in Christ. Which simply means all revelation and knowledge about God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit is taught to us by others. Normally, through preachers and other spiritual teachers and leaders.  Apostle Paul said, "Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness" (Hebrews 5:13).  New Christians need milk. They need someone else to teach them the Word of God. On the contrary, if you have been a Christian for over 10 years and you still drink spiritual milk, that's a problem! You need to GROW UP! You need to elevate from being taught the Word into becoming a teacher of the Word.

As sons and daughters of God we should be reading, studying, and mediating on His Word daily! We should have an active prayer life! The Lord's name should continually be in our mouths! If you are motto is not  I seek the Lord

and His strength and presence continually, you are still a babe in Christ! If you don't have a desire to cultivate an intimate, personal relationship with God and be conformed into the image of His son Jesus Christ, then why are you a  Christian? Understand this please, going to church faithfully does not make you a Christian! It just makes you religious. It's time to grow up!

God wants you to be in covenant with Him. Let me translate that for some of you: He wants you to have a personal relationship with Him! A relationship where spend quality time with Him in prayer. A relationship where you hunger and thirst after His Word. Jesus teaches us to seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). That's what meat eaters do! Listen my loves, it's time to advance to another level in your spiritual walk with God. As Apostle Paul said it best, let us move beyond elementary teachings about Christ and transition to more mature topics that help us increase our faith in God (Hebrews 6:1). Put that bottle down and get you some meat!
