Lord, I Want The Blessing But Not The Struggle.

You get a blessing, you get blessing, and you get a blessing. EVERYBODY gets a blessing! And the crowd screams! Everybody wants the blessing, but nobody wants to go through the process of suffering. Yes, suffering. As Christians, heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, we are called to partake in the sufferings of Christ.  Apostle Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 2:3, "As a good soldier of Christ Jesus you must endure your share of suffering."

Don’t buy into the false doctrine that being a Christian means you will never have to suffer. If Jesus suffered and we are to follow in His footsteps, we must accept that suffering is part of God’s will for our lives as well.  Psalm 34:19 says, “Many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous, but the Lord rescues him from them all." As Christians we are going to go through some struggles. But don’t let your struggles cause you to lose faith in God.

God uses our struggles to develop and refine our character. Romans 5:3-4 says, “More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame.” So, yes, at times you will have struggles but heed this Word in Romans 8:18, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”  After we struggle God will reveal His glory in us and reward us for the hardship we had to endure. 1 Peter 5:10 says, “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10

Today, I pray you change your perspective on suffering. I know nothing about suffering feels good, but know that after it is over it is going to work for your good. Think about all the suffering Job had to go through and then think about his reward at the end. He got double for his trouble! We are all going to go through our fair share of struggles, but we can rest confidently in God's Word that our struggles will always bring God glory and grow and strengthen us.
